It appears that in 1979, he joined what is known as the U.S. Army. He decided to join the army because his money from selling cannabis and stealing stereos was insufficient to support his girlfriend and daughter. After serving in the military for four years, he decided to leave. On December 23, 1983, he returned to South Central as a hip-hop musician to become a star. After getting caught up in street crime, he became a jewel thief and a pimp. A few years later, he adopted Ice-T’s name after favorite writer, Iceberg Slim. A few years later, he recorded “The Coldest Rap.” The first time he was hospitalized was in 1985 after being injured in a car accident.
He performed at an open mic competition judged by the legendary Kurtis Blow in this period, and he was eager to pursue a professional rap career. In 1991, he shared a Grammy award for the album “Back on the Block” that Quincy Jones produced for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group with Big Daddy Kane, along with four other artists at the time. The actor made his NBC debut in 2000 as the fictional detective Ordain Tutuila in the hit police drama series ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.’ He received several awards and nominations throughout the series and has spawned many spin-offs.
A celebrity guest star MTV’s sketch comedy show “Short Circuits,” continues from 2007. He also worked on the short music film “Hands of Hatred” in that same year. Towards the end of 2012, he conceived, directed, co-produced, and directed a documentary titled ‘something from Nothing: Art of Rap,’ which featured several rappers. In 2017, Body Count released their sixth studio album titled Bloodlust. Ice-T released his first solo hip-hop track in over a decade in July of this year. I want to remind everyone that the track was titled ‘Feds in My Rearview.’
