Snoop Dogg, also known by his stage name Calvin Broadus, is a Hollywood hip-hop artist and media personality who became one of the most important figures of the gangsta scene during the early 1990s. Snoop Dogg has received much attention as a performer, but he has also appeared in several films and television dramas throughout his career.

Snoop Dogg Early Life

Snoop Dogg was born on October 20, 1971, in Long Beach, California. His stepfather, Calvin Cordozar Broadus Sr. (1948-85), a Vietnam War vet, singer, and mail carrier, left the family three months after he was born. Vernell was named after him. He didn’t spend much time with his father.

Due to his love of and likeness of the Peanuts cartoon character, his parents called him Snoopy. Snoop Dogg is the costly rapper in the world. He is a songwriter, actor, and entrepreneur. In research for 2022, Snoop Dogg’s net worth estimated $150 million. 

Snoop was the second of his mother’s three children. In 1975, his mother and stepfather split up. Broadus first started singing and playing piano at the Golgotha Trinity Baptist Church when he was a little boy. He started rapping in sixth grade. Snoop was already a talented rapper by high school, and by default, he was fantastic. He walked the halls of Long Beach Polytechnic High School with Cameron Diaz, who would become a star.

Broadus sold candy, delivered newspapers, and bagged groceries to help his family survive as a kid. He was described as a good student and an enthusiastic churchgoer involved in choir and football. In 1993, Broadus admitted he began engaging in illegal activities and joining gangs in his teenage years, despite his mom’s efforts to keep him out of trouble.

Snoop Dogg Career

A few years after high school, he spent a lot of time in and out of prison before becoming a hip-hop artist. In 1992, he came to legendary producer-rapper Dr. Dre, who included him on his single “Deep Cover” and his landmark album The Chronic. The vocals on Snoop’s hit singles “Dre Day” and “Nuthin’ but a G Thang” fueled his rapid rise to fame.

His album Doggystyle (1993) became the first debut to hit number one on the Billboard 200 chart.’ Paid the Cost to Be da Bo$$’ which contained songs like “in 2002 From the Church to da Palace” and “Beautiful,” was released with the single “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” It was also released in 2005 his second album ‘The Hard Way’ which included the single “Groupie Luv.”

 As well as coaching a youth football league, he also coaches a high school football team. Snoop was hired as the chairman of Priority Records by EMI in September 2009. Reincarnated is his reggae album, and his documentary about Jamaica is called Reincarnated.

His album ‘The Blue Carpet Treatment’ and its second single, “That’s That Shit,” garnered positive reviews. After that, he released several albums, including “Ego Trippin'” (2008), “Malice n Wonderland” (2009), and “Doggumentary” (2011). In 2012, his name was changed to Snoop Lion. His latest recording, ‘Reincarnated,’ followed his documentary released in March 2013.

It was 2015 when he went back to being Snoop Dogg and released Bush. Earlier this year, Snoop said he was a born-again Christian and released his first gospel album, Bible of Love. He released his seventeenth solo album, “I Wanna Thank Me,” in 2019. The actor has hosted many television shows, with Doggy Fizzle Televizzle, Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood, Dogg After Dark, and WrestleMania.

Snoop Dogg Personal Life

Shante Taylor, Snoop Dogg’s girlfriend from high school, married him in 1997. Dogg and Shante have three children together: two sons, Cordé and Cordell, and Cori’s daughter. In the beginning, he wanted a divorce from his wife. But he “went back home,” and things changed. A sweet thing he said was that he “fell in love again” with Shante and their children.

Also, he says his wife will do a divorce if they get a divorce, which shows how much he’s changed. He said he tried to get a divorce but came back home and fell back in love with his family. You don’t know what you want until you get it. You can’t see straight in this music business, man, and it’ll take your vision and blur it. I have thrown the papers away because God is good, and I need my wife and kids.

I don’t want a divorce. I’ll be getting divorced from my wife, so there will be a divorce. There’s no way I’m divorcing her…And I messed up, so I’m trying to make things right.”

Since high school, they’ve been together, so it’s a nice change of pace for them. It wasn’t just that they didn’t give up on their marriage for an earlier reason. They renewed their vows in January 2008.
